Bumble says, Kindness is Sexy

Meet Bumble, not as in Bee….but as in the unique dating site that boasts 100 million users in 152 countries. Bumble has just revealed that Kindness is Sexy. Now we’re talking.
When Bumble surveyed their members around the world, they discovered that 87% felt that kindness was the most important quality in a potential partner. 82% of responders said that saying something complimentary is one of the kindest things a person can do.
“When we approach dating with kindness, we help create an environment of respect and compassion, and for connections to grow,“ said Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder and CEO of Bumble. She hopes to redefine the idea of attraction.
To help promote kindness, Bumble has launched a campaign called Kindness is Sexy in partnership with Canadian actor, Adam DiMarco. Not a bad plan. At 33, DiMarco fits the Bumble profile, with 72% of users under the age of 35. It doesn’t hurt that DiMarco is well known for his role as ‘Albie’ in the award winning HBO hit The White Lotus. I know you’re all dying to see Adam, so here you go…😉
Multiple studies have shown that people who are kind are considered more attractive. Participants were shown faces of people with no description. Two weeks later they viewed the same photos with comments by some photos describing them as kind. These ‘kind’ people were considered more attractive than the others.
Do you remember the fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast? Over time Beauty becomes so attracted to the Beast, because of his kindness, that she marries him and he turns into a handsome prince. It was originally published in 1740, making me think that the whole idea of kindness being beautiful isn’t new.
Maybe Bumble’s survey didn’t really turn up new results. But what a great reminder of how attractive kindness can make us. And ok, maybe it’s a little more fun by saying that Kindness is Sexy.
As Adam shows in Kindness is Sexy, simple kind acts….like complimenting someone on their car, or saying ‘hi’ to someone’s mom, or buying a coffee for a frazzled parent….can make you attractive. Kindness is our best quality.
We don’t have to live in a fairy tale world to be beautiful. We just need to be kind.
Try practicing little acts of kindness and see how beautiful you become.
