Happy Take 5 Monday: 1 Kindness Quote, 1 Gratitude Thought, 1 Kindness Habit Idea, 1 Kind Act, and 1 Question for you to consider this week…
1 Kindness Quote:
“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.” ~ Gandhi
1 Gratitude Thought:
This year, instead of resolving to lose weight, I am resolving to reach out and be kinder to those in need. I think I’ll have a better chance of success and make more of a difference!
1 Kindness Habit Idea…backed by science 🧪:
When you do kind things for others, everyone involved feels more connected and more willing to cooperate with each other. And when you describe others in a positive way, other people will be more attracted to you. A 2010 study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that people may judge you by how they see you judging others. If you describe others in a positive way, people perceive that you are kind hearted, happy, and emotionally stable. I know I can’t change the world the way volcanic eruptions change the landscape, but I like to think that the itsy bitsy kind acts I can do will add up….and if you’ll join in and you encourage those you know to join in….together we can make this world a better place.
1 Kind Act….
Can you imagine an elephant and a dog being friends? The kind of friends who play together, eat together, sleep together? The kind of friends who are kind to each other….even though they are so completely different?
Last week my good friend, Mike, sent me this video. I wish he had suggested a hankie before watching….that would have been a good idea. In her own very effective way, Tarra the elephant, taught me a wonderful lesson about kindness and friendship.
I got curious about how animals are able to overcome their differences and form strong bonds, so of course, google came to the rescue.
In a study from Kyoto University, researchers discovered that animals can identify kind behavior and they show a preference for people who are kind, regardless of their appearance. The only criteria that the animals used to decide who they wanted to be with, was kindness.
It sounds so simple. If animals can do it……
1 Kindness Question for you:
What is one thing you would like to do more kindly in 2022?

Love this elephant story! I think I had seen it before on the CBS Sunday Morning show.
A quote I like is "Try to be the person your dog thinks you are". Excellent article!
