First, I have to say I had never heard of Harvard Square Library, even though I worked in Harvard Square many years ago. I looked it up and what a wonderful website! Thank you for that.
Second, I do love some good wordplay, and puns are a favorite. In fact, I once entered ten puns in a contest, hoping one would win. But no pun in ten did.
This was such a fun read and I agree with laughter being the best medicine! If I'm having a shitty day I quit everything early and resort to Netflix for a standup comedy special or two.
I'm very lucky to have a naturally funny dog who makes me laugh several times throughout the day. She is my medicine!
We need to get in touch with our inner Kindergartners. 500! I remember that Norman Cousins story. I believe the act of smiling alone can improve one’s mood.
My all-time favorite joke. A skeleton walked into a bar. The bartender asked, "What'll it be?" The skeleton said, " Bring me a beer... and a mop."
For a lot of hilarity, I recommend YouTube's "Dry Bar". It is a venue based in Provo, Utah. The comedians who are featured are so very funny - and they don't use offensive language. Talk about belly laughs!
To answer Heather's question in newsletter post about why the pen broke up with the pencil: Because it acquired pencilitis. That would be the writing instrument version of Pancolitis. Note to distinguish pun from fact: Pancolitis is real; pencilitis is not.
Worth noting: There's a ton of great stand-up available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and elsewhere. Watch any of the specials from Jim Gaffigan or John Mulaney and you're all but guaranteed some big laughs... and lots of them!
We are so on the same page! Tomorrow I am going to speak to parents who have children with significant support needs (many are neurodivergent) and one of my messages is how we use humor to heal. I wrote a piece that I am going to post later with some kids jokes that I've used to get things started.
I love being on the same page with you. You will see soon :)
I can't remember one at the moment, but the Corp Hell Job where I works has a white board in the break room where people write Dad jokes. Nothing on the board today though.
😂 😂
Thanks Heather - I feel so joyful after reading your article! There is nothing like a good belly laugh.
Can't remember a single pun lol

Finding a good balance is critical to a great life. And what great life doesn't include a lot of laughing. Thanks for sharing Heather

Your posts always make my day.
I can’t think of anything punny.

Not a pun but my favorite quote by the late great Yogi Berra when talking about a restaurant in NYC:
"Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."
Thanks for the laughs today, Heather. I agree, laughter is good medicine.
I loved the puns!!!!
After reading this, I discovered it have no idea what kind of humor I like. Seems that might be part of health and wellness. 💕
