I saw myself in so many of the listed points, Heather, and I've decided I've had enough confrontation in my life and am not looking for any more. ha ha ha . At my age, I usually just walk away. Not ideal, I know, but there it is! Funny how our priorities change sometimes as we age. Also, I strongly agree with you about not using "but", which negates what someone just said. It is better to use "and" - "I hear what you are saying , AND another way to look at it is...." "Yes, I understand, and another piece to the puzzle is...." "I can see that really makes sense to you, and have you ever thought about...?" That one little word can make all the difference. Thanks for getting me riled up this morning, my friend.
Good morning, a day late! Spent the day yesterday at Walnut Canyon (northern Arizona), hiking around cliff dwellings.....so no computer for me....yay!
I know exactly what you mean about confrontation. I'm not good at it anyway and by this age incremental improvements are miniscule anyway! And truthfully, I'm pretty ok with your 'walk away' strategy, too. 💗
You are very good at avoiding the 'but' word. Thank you for those excellent examples. I catch myself, sometimes with that little 'b' word (just 3 letters, not 5 haha) about to slip out of my mouth. It's fun to get creative with the 'and' word. We can be so sneaky with that little word, still getting across our point, yet in a much more positive and effective way, don't you think?
Since I am a day late and a dollar short in replying, hopefully your 'riledness' (pretty sure that's not a word) is gone and you are enjoying sublime peace and tranquility.
Off to explore Williams, AZ and Route 66. See you in my Inbox next Saturday. 🤗
